In memory of the 1956 Hungarian Freedom Fighter
He was white like the milky fog,
worn like the October trees,
and buried his pallid forehead
in the damp fallen leaves
Words at the edge of his lips
trickled out, and scattered
as scarlet flowers in the grass...
Walls, caved-in and shattered,
on his brown fingers came to rest,
his eyes held sky-pieces,
a country silently weeping
clutched his spent arteries.
