The people of the country of Ung giya lii ya of the Great Western Ocean.
The country of Ung giya lii ya is to the south of the country of Bo lo ni ya. The people of that place look like Mongolians. Their clothing is quite short, they wear trousers and stockings so close-fitting that it is as if they had wrapped leggings on. They are very clever and intelligent and are fond of law and ritual. From the time they are young they learn the art of horsemanship. Their necks are short and they run fast. They often wear a sword, about four (Chinese) feet long, on their waist. They also dance on the backs of horses. The women are versed in book learning and are good at sewing and weaving. When they go out of doors, they always cover their faces with silk gauze or patterned silk. The exports of that place are very rich. The cattle and sheep are passable, good enough for other tribes to use. [In that place] such things as gold, silver, copper, iron could be used and never be used up. --
